A solid, balanced article that makes some excellent arguments. I still have to disagree.

Age is meaningless. Competence matters, though apparently less in politics than other pursuits. Optics matter a lot in politics, and that's where Biden falls short. If you have to make an argument that Biden is "not too old" and “not as incompetent as he appears," you have already lost. The fact that he still has to deal with stuttering only covers so much.

Most importantly, age is meaningless but policy matters. Dems don't talk policy and don't offer anything other than "we aren't as bad as Republicans." I won't vote for GOP-Lite no matter the age of the candidate. And it's okay, Dems don't want my vote, they make that clear.
