Because I’m a philosophy professor, my emphasis is on how philosophy developed. The side effect of that emphasis is that I’m quite ignorant about the history of mathematics. I don’t doubt that along with other knowledge, there was a loss and rediscovery of knowledge of mathematics, I just don’t know enough about it to write on it. The inadequacy is mine.
