Exactly. I greatly respect David Chalmers's stance on this issue, which took bravery. Materialist reductionism fails in a number of ways, but groupthink continues to blindly adhere to it. I don't think there is a "hard problem" of consciousness. It exists, and we need to start from there, not be afraid to start beacuse we can't disprove the obvious. I suspect what drives the demand for materialist reductionism are other prejudices that have no proper place in philosophy.
