Farscape was “Woke” Before Anyone Whined about “Wokeness”

Something I’ve never mentioned here on Medium is my Farscape Continues project. It’s a guilty pleasure, writing and making videos about a television show. That show is Farscape, to my mind, absolutely, unequivocally, the highest quality science fiction show ever.

Anyway, awhile back I made a video on the topic that Farscape, which ran from 1999 to 2003, was “woke” before anyone knew what “woke” was. I wrote about this “woke” idea on Medium last November. That article and associated video hasn’t been seem much, but the Farscape was “woke” video recently took off, “went viral” as the kids call it today. So, I thought, given I’m too busy writing my new book to write much original content, I thought I would share the video with my Medium readers. The topic is of great interest to me, and I’d appreciate some nonhateful discussion about the issues raised. Oh, and if you never have, watch Farscape, it’s mind-blowingly good.
