Great comments, thanks. I was remarking last night that it is a mystery why schools don't teach civics anymore. Maybe you have provided an answer.
More philosophy is definitely a huge help in dealing with our problems. For decades, society has not taught students to consider multiple ideas and multiple perspectives on ideas. Only facts and binary yes-no thinking. We have raised people less capable of dealing with the complexities of reality.
Finally, yes, that is why I am warning against this new version of stoicism.
