Medium definitely has its limitations, but I have found it to be one of the better places on the Internet for serious discussion. It allows long-form writing, for one, but the big difference from social media is that people need to pay to be here. That discourages the worst of the lazy trolls. I get my share of trolls here, yes, and I am sure because you are multiple times more popular than I, get multiple times more trolls. And yes, the most popular publications on Medium are, to be charitable, fluffy nonsense. Still, I think this is a good outlet for a serious publications.
