Hey, If You’re Looking to Escape the US for a Bit, Here’s Some Very Non-American Entertainment

Not a good week last week. Same for you? I understand. It happens. Here’s a friendly suggestion.

For many years, my spouse and I have had a Saturday night tradition of making pizzas and watching TV. We don’t watch much TV the rest of the week, but if at all possible, Saturdays are a day off from work.

The TV streaming service we watch the most is not one of the corporate megaplexes. It’s called MHz Choice. It carries foreign TV shows with English subtitles. It’s offerings are heavy on Nordic Noir, because that’s what’s popular these days. Shows like this.

MHz Choice has over 200 series in all, with one or more seasons of each show. Lots and lots of police procedurals, dramas, mysteries, and a few comedies and documentaries thrown in. I’m guessing there are at least 2,500 hours of viewing available. Most of the shows are from European countries, a few from Asia and a very few from Africa. All are subtitled in English.

Best of all, MHz Choice has zero American corporate mass-produced content. Not that everything on MHz Choice is great, but everything on there will be fresh to American audiences. You can immerse yourself in other…
