I accept and appreciate the compliment, which is indeed the highest compliment possible for a writer.

I must respectfully disagree with your comments about the use of "(sic)." The Webster's definition of "sic" is "intentionally so written —used after a printed word or passage to indicate that it is intended exactly as printed or to indicate that it exactly reproduces an original." I am, therefore, not in any way attributing an error to Whitehead. The use of "sic"in this instance points out the convention of his time, a an archaic convention from which some of us have moved on. It would be disrespectful to women not to note the archaic convention. Intelligent people of all sexes and genders understand that.
