I agree, and continental philosophers take the realities of differing cultural interpretations very seriously. The presence of social norms, arbitrarily generated, yet objective in their power, is of great interest to some of us. I wrote about it in my book Rethinking Misrecognition and Struggles for Recognition, and a follow up is third in my queue of books to wrote.
