I agree with Hannah Arendt who said that the Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda was a conspiracy theory deliberately told to justify the Nazi concentration of power. She said it ultimately wasn't about the Jewish people (she was Jewish) and the Nazis could have used any number of other groups to attack and spread fear regarding them. In fact, the Nazis did attack and spread conspiracy theories about a number of groups, but mainly focused on Jewish people. There was, of course, no truth to the "Jews are plotting to take over the world" conspiracy theory, then or now.
