I don’t disagree with what you write except your implication that it somehow contradicts what I wrote. Buddhism assumes that suffering arises because we are beings who experience and interpret the world. The only way out of this “trap” of suffering is to cease experiencing and interpreting, a quietism that, within Buddhism and as the texts state, is extinguishing the self and its thought equivalent to extinguishing a candle flame and its light.

True, the mistakes of Buddhism are not the only possible interpretation of reality. This is a blessing, because change is not bad, dependent origination is not contrary to being a full free will being, and experiencing does no inexorably lead to suffering. We can lead a rich and joyful life by walking away from Buddhism’s mistaken interpretations.
