I read the novel Contact decades ago but never saw the film, so I don't know if the film was true to Sagan's semi-mystical ending ending, which I won't spoil for anyone. I saw Arrival in 2019. I enjoyed both, and thought they were realistic in their own way seen in the context of when they were written. Again, I don't know how true the Contact film is to the book, but I'd say the book is on the same level of quality as the film, Arrival.
