In my university philosophy courses, for years I didn't mention postmodernism at all, but have recently added it late in the term after a history of philosophy up to that point. Outside of its specific social and historical context, postmodern philosophy is meaningless, and those philosophers would agree. I think the greater danger to young people today is that pop culture teaches them that chasing temporary pleasures and immediate gratification is all that matters. Is that postmodernism? Jean Baudrillard would say so.
