Kudos for weighing in on this subject. You are onto something with the idea that fascists can't enjoy anything. But we have to consider why they are that way. On the one hand, it's complicated, on the other hand, it's deceptively simple because the power dynamic is so prevalent we don't see it.

As for Star Wars, two points. One, the US is a country in which Darth Vader and the stormtroopers have always been more popular than the rebels. America prefers authoritarians. Two, the silliness of the hatred for Rey is not about bad writing, it was, as you say, the right-wing hatred of diversity, as I discuss here.
