I write articles to be read. Yes, I make a living with my writing, but I write with the purpose of making a difference — making life a little bit nicer for us. Writing is a lot more useful when it gets read. That’s why I write. That’s why I’m on Medium.

As my regular readers know, I protest when the gatekeepers snub and squelch articles because they deem the articles too serious or challenging to readers. But that’s not always the case.

Today, I will share the positive news of articles that show that Medium readers do enjoy serious and challenging articles when they are allowed to see them. Plus, I will share a bit of advice on how you can succeed as a writer here on Medium.

Serious Articles Making Serious Money

There are plenty of articles out there advising you on what gimmicks you can employ to get reads. Don’t waste your time. Gimmicks and fakery never succeed for long.

I don’t use gimmicks. I write what interests me and what’s in my heart — again, to make a difference. True, too much of what I write does get snubbed and squelched by the gatekeepers, but when articles are fairly distributed, they get read, and getting read means…
