Only you can decide your path, but decide what path is the best expression of your personal power. When that is your guiding energy, it will work out, even though you may not yet know how.

Being a PhD student is terrible. I had one professor in the twice-a-year progress review of my PhD work, try to remove me from the program because I used the research of a professor she did not know. That's how petty some academics are. I persevered and though my PhD hasn't helped me directly, having it has opened doors for me. And if you are already credited as a co-author on five papers, you area already ahead of the game. Best plow through to the end, get the degree, and se what happens. I ended up in a life and place I never would have expected.
