So good to see someone talking about the importance of social capital. With all the understandable concern over democracy and democratic institutions, it's usually discussed in economic terms. I don't see enough discussion about the importance of how individuals see and understand their place and role in society. People are hurt and lash out whent they sense they are not given a role, have no social capital, are outside of the society's recognition norms.
