Thank you for sharing your story. I have twice spent time in Finland and absolutely love the country. I did not know that about the change in country music, it has always been a genre I avoid, but what you say does not surprise me. Europe is not devoid of intolerant attitudes, but nothing compared to the constant entitled self-centerdness in the U.S. The hyper-commercialism of the U.S. irritated me even growing up there, and living here with the relative absence of corporatization and marketing is blissful. When I moved to England in 2012, it so struck me how much nicer Christmas was to not have the commercial aspects of it constantly shoved at me. I go back to the U.S. to visit my mother and that’s pretty much it.
