Thank you for you comments and I could not agree more! My U.S. university encourages a year abroad for our students and I am a big cheerleader for it. This recent U.S. election showed that the urban-rural divide remains strong, and though I cautious not to oversimplify, exposure to cultural diversity has an enormous effect on one’s attitudes. As you say, more diverse experiences makes one more of a global citizen and just might save the planet.
