On authenticity, it is difficult to define, and there isn’t much agreement among philosophers as to what it means to be authentic. I’m not exactly sure how Jaspers is defining authenticity. It lies, for him, at the intersection between self-awareness and dialogue with others. He seems to be deliberately being inexact in defining authenticity to allow for individuals to define it for themselves. So perhaps authenticity is formed by active self-reflection of how we are within an interconnected world.
