Thank you for your comments and I admire what you say and have done.

I agree with you on your two added observations. Having money gives one more options. I have been blessed to have enough money to experience things I could not have otherwise. I didn’t grow up poor, but my childhood and young adulthood was suffused with the paranoia of needing to be as frugal as possible to stay out of poverty. I’ve never been rich, but having a little financial breathing room makes all the difference. And absolutely, being aware that so many people around me are less well off is humbling.

I mean someday to write something about patriotism. It is an odd concept in some ways, and yet, most people have it. That’s largely because, as you point out, everyone thinks their culture is normal and therefore difference is abnormal. It is a natural human tendency that take a lot of experience and self-reflection to overcome. I love the concept of being a citizen of the world.
