I should have mentioned the influence of Plotinus on Maimonides in particular and by extension, to Jewish mysticism. You are absolutely correct in all you say, and correct in guessing there is a direct link between Plotinus and Maimonides, as Plotinus was passed on to him through the Islamic tradition that mistakenly labeled Plotinus as Aristotle.
