Thank you for your detailed response. I am unfamiliar with the terminology of the UU assumption but it sounds a reasonable critique. On the red shift issue, your valuable history lesson lends credence to the claim that the cosmologists were force fitting the data into their paradigm rather than let the data tell them what is there; that includes the Cepheid variable data.
