Thank you for your question; it is an issue worth discussing. My reasons for dismissing (and forbidding in my publication) are threefold. One is that it indicates to me the person is lazy, which I admit will not always be the case, but in the limited time I have, using AI images is an easy criterion in a triage of what I may find worth reading. If they cut corners with an AI image they probably also cut corners in their writing. The second is that I have a strong general aversion to fakery of any kind. I prefer natural images. I’ve never preferred CGI over real-life images, and these AI-generated cartoons are so yucky plastic they make my skin crawl. Finally, I prefer human artists get compensated for their creations.
