I agree with all that you say. I read an article once in which the historian pointed out that there has always been globalization, going way back to the Romans and certainly since European colonization. The movement of people, the blending of cultures, and the extent of trade has long been around. That's why, for example, English is an amalgam of four language groups.

What has changed is the speed of communication. So people are seeing that difference. I am not sure that is a qualitative difference, just a quantitative one. I think that whole "technology will doom" us fear is born of bad science fiction more than anything else. I think it is wonderful that we can all share our cultures so freely and openly because of technology.
