My one critique is that is that you quote Sidkey, who is either completely ignorant of or deliberately misrepresenting the philosophy of Thomas Kuhn. Given the tabloid he published in, I am going with deliberate ideologically-inspired deception. Quite the contrary, Kuhn criticized the failure of science to accept to accept empirical evidence, because science clings too much to paradigms.
