Thanks. True, that need for people to feel they have won over someone else is so problematic, so destructive.

Everyone is struggling for recognition because everyone needs it. That leads to healthy and unhealthy strivings for recognition and the system has evolved to exploit the unhealthy strivings. We can have a society without oppressive hierarchies and with norms that embrace diversity and individuality. It's possible, but will be damn difficult to get there.
