That attitude is the correct one. TNGS is an interesting theory, but it is just that, with no real data behind it. It also does not explain the operations of consciousness or why we have the consciousness we have. TNGS doesn't move the ball forward, so to speak.

The larger question is why would we want to create a conscious machine? What would we gain from it?
