That is a very good question. Interestingly, I was speaking with my spouse about that question this morning. What I said to her and will say to you is that I think I was able to come to the realizations I did partly because I was always an outsider. That forced and enabled me to look at situations in a more detached manner and allowed me to have an understanding, at least in a small way, of how people are marginalized. I’ll be writing an article in this some day soon.
