The terms we use matter a great deal. One way that terms matter so much is that when we apply multiple terms for related phenomena, we aren’t reducing the complexities to simplistic generalizations. You provide a solid example of this in that the accusation of racism used to have power to it, but now is to generalized. That’s a big reason why I like the distinction between bigotry and racism that I am describing.
