There will always need to be some transportation of foo but we need to think holistically and factually about food production without ideological prejudices. A powerful argument that Dr. Taber made is that certain lands are best for growing certain foods. Saskatchewan is good for growing wheat, it is not good for growing many other foods. On many areas of land, meat production is the best food to grow, and that’s why meat is grown there. We need more efficient transport systems because all those trucks and planes are harming the environment, not cows grazing on arid grasslands. Always at the core of the problem are the corporations being allowed to run rampant.
