This article is a welcome addition to Politically Speaking. The author shows us a path toward actual dialogue on issues rather than partisan attacks. Partisan attacks are, by definition, attempts to close down dialogue, to stop open inquiry and development of consensus. "Cancel culture" has been around for many centuries and has been practiced by both the Right and the Left. Only by refusing to engage in the "cancel culture" of partisan attacks thinly disguised as political commentary will we start to work toward solutions to our mutual problems. I suspect that my opinions on issues differs from the author's but disagreement is not the enemy. Not being willing to intelligently discuss issues with other people is the enemy.
