This is very interesting. I can't say I am entirely convinced that plowed agriculture is a primary cause of patriarchy, but I can certainly see it as a significant element. Some academic work has been done on comparing cereal-based agriculture, which requires plows, with rice-based agriculture, which does not. The argument is that the difference in cultivation requirements led to different social structures, and that's why Asian societies are more egalitarian than European and Middle Eastern societies. There's probably some correspondence with the plowed agriculture findings.
