To be fair, the imposition of ideology is a very old tactic used by most regimes. It comes in many flavors and colors, but the end product is the same: subordination of those who do not confirm to the prevailing ideology. The current Chinese regime has a new intensity of it, and an arrogant shamelessness that is alarming.
