True, but I can’t take on xenophobia in all humanity and nations. I am focusing my article on a particular claim recently expressed often in the media, social media, and here in Medium which is, as I quote from my opening paragraph:

“These reactionaries make it seem that hostility against immigrants is greater than ever.”

To which I reply: “History records otherwise.” So, the article compares US past with the claims about US present.
