Trump and his team investigated the question of whether there was any fraud in the 2020 election. That was legitimate and legal. Every investigation they conducted found zero evidence of fraud. If they had stopped there, as Bill Barr and others did, then they would have committed no wrongdoing. But they did not stop there and committed illegal acts. What the Democrats did or did not do is irrelevant.
