We believe Putin when he says, repeatedly, that he wants to bring all the former Warsaw Pact countries back under the control of "Mother Russia." We see what he did to Chechnya, Georgia, and Ukraine, and we understand that Putin still is very much a product of the Soviet Union and deliberately tries to replicate it.
