Weird though it sounds, the idea of the two types of freedom is new, only a little over 60 years old, so it hasn't yet fully spread through philosophy, much less popular culture. Ironically, yesterday on my podcast :Insert Philosophy Here," I mentioned how a concept 200 years old was still relatively "new." People are too often leery of nuances and complexities, and prefer simple concepts like they have of what freedom is.
