Would it not be the case that sled dogs are bred specifically for traits such as whether they are good lead dogs? Animals have basic characteristics, what would we call “instincts,” and having the capability to be a lead dog would be one of them. True, not all dog would have that specific capability but that doesn’t disprove the point.
