Yes, I like your idea. Bernie Sanders has been talking about that for decades, but the Democrats are as much against him as they are against Republicans. The Left is pro-worker, but the Dems are not. Republicans aren't either, but at least they aren't hypocrites about it like the Dems are. I can't blame you for not wanting to support the Democrats.
