Yes, the monarchy is just a symbol, I say people can start arguing about symbols when they have finished solving tangible problems. That the monarchy exists isn't even in the top 50 of Britain's problems.

Constitutionally, the UK monarch has no more powers than any other European monarchy. "Royal assent" is a rubber stamp figurehead action.

Britain does have a Bill of Rights. It existed before the much ballyhooed US Bill of Rights.
