I agree that we aren't living in virtual reality or a simulation, but if we were, it wouldn't look any different than what we experience now. No matter what protests anyone can throw up, we do not and cannot have deep knowledge about the mind-independent reality. At most, we can have a workable pragmatic understanding of how to maneuver in that reality. We create narratives to express this superficial but workable understanding, and we share them collectively and call that "truth." Is that "real?" In practical terms, sure, in metaphysical terms, no one can say.
